THE COLONIAL VILLAGES OF MEXICO

The Colonial Villages of Mexico

Day 1: Airport – Hotel.
Transport from the airport to the hotel Refugio Comanjilla***** in León. The hotel is located in the middle of a pine forest and is surrounded by beautiful gardens. Next door you will find a paradise of thermal waters. Among the hotel facilities there are several swimming pools, thermal waters, wide gardens and access to the water park.

Day 2: Comanjilla – Comanjilla : 20 km.
Depart to Rancho Colomitos. You will be partnered up with your horses and we will leave on a 3 hours trip during which you will have the opportunity to test your mounts. We will return to Rancho Colomitos for lunch.
After a short break, you will be transported to León to visit the leather market and an old store full of Mexican equestrian products. Dinner will be served in a local restaurant and we will spend the night in hotel Refugio Comanjilla*****.

Day 3: Comanjilla – La Esperanza : 32 km.
Our path sets off towards the city of Guanajuato, passing through the paxtle which is overshadowed by a famous mountain called “cerro del Cubilete” (considered the geographical center of México).

Day 4: La Esperanza – Dolores Hidalgo: 38 km.
We will depart from the beautiful town of Santa Rosa de Lima, located in the Sierra of Guanajuato, for a day which will be punctuated by plenty of amazing and majestic views. We will ride most of our way among holm oak forests, listening to the sound of the wind and the fauna of the place. We will then arrive in the colonial city of Dolores Hidalgo, which was founded in 1610 and is the cradle of Mexico’s independence.

Day 5: Dolores Hidalgo – San Miguel de Allende: 35 km.
Early in the morning we begin our journey by passing through the old exploitation of La Erre, an interesting place which was created in the first half of the 17th century. We will continue our path through the dry brook until Atotonilco, where we will eat. Following our meal, we will then continue our journey to the beautiful colonial city of San Miguel de Allende.

Day 6: San Miguel de Allende – El Xoconoxtle: 38 km.
We will depart for the village of Xoconoxtle, passing through the north of the Allende dam and following the Cieneguita and Tierra Blanca which is crossed by sown fields of corn and agave. You will see beautiful landscapes throughout the day. We will be riding along tracks that were used during the time of the independence and also the Mexican Revolution.

Lodging: Hotel in Marfil. All meals included.

Day 7: El Xoconoxtle – Guanajuato: 39 km.
This final day in the saddle will take us between plains and mountains as we follow the path to the beautiful city of Guanajuato, the capital of the state and our final destination. During the day you will see plenty of picturesque landscapes.

Lodging: Hotel in Guanajuato. All meals included.

Day 8: Day off in Guanajuato.
We will spend our last day in the beautiful city of Guanajuato, the most beautiful colonial city of Mexico, which is listed by the UNESCO World Heritage List of places in 1988. Its back alleys and tunnels make you feel as if you had been transported to another age, the warmth of people’s personality as well as the cultural and natural attractions will make you feel the magic hidden in this marvellous place.

Day 9: After breakfast, farewell and transfer to the airport.
